RIO GRAND: Inspired by the roadhouses they encountered while on hunting trips out
West, Bob Kowalewski and Howard Schelde soon captured the tastes
of Michigan beef lovers by introducing a western steakhouse concept
to Grand Rapids in the early 1990s.
Th Rio Grand Steakhouse is known for big portions and quality
mesquite grilled steaks, served in a rustic atmosphere straight ought
of the West. Prime-cut, chargrilled steaks, barbecue ribs and a variety
of chicken and seafood entrées will more than satisfy any customer’s
appetite.
Rio also serves some lighter fare for lunch, and is well-known for their
made-from-scratch soups. Sandwiches and salads are fersh and unique.
In 2006 Rio began serving their $5 lunches, which includes a soda! The
response, as you can imagine, was incredible. Rio is now recongnized
as “the home of the $5 lunch” by business associates who want the
intimacy of a sit down restaurant AND good food—at the price of fast
food!
